Mumbai's Girgaon was shaken by a horrific acid attack that claimed the life of a 54-year-old woman. The victim, who had been living with her attacker for 25 years, was left with 80% burns on her chest, back, arms, and legs. She was attacked with acid while filling water outside her building. Despite receiving medical treatment, the victim tragically passed away two weeks after the attack.

The attacker, 62-year-old Mahesh Pujari, had lived with the victim for 25 years. The victim, who was deserted by her husband 25 years prior, started living with Pujari. However, their relationship was plagued by frequent disputes, including disagreements over Pujari's alcohol habit and demands for money.

The attack took place in front of the victim's elder son, who immediately raised the alarm. The attacker was caught by the victim's younger son and was later arrested. The victim was rushed to Bhatia Hospital before being transferred to Masina Hospital, where she received treatment for her injuries.

Pujari was initially charged with sections 326A (voluntarily causing hurt by use of acid) and 307 (attempted murder) of the IPC (Indian Penal Code). However, after the victim's death, the charges were upgraded to include section 302 (murder). Pujari is now in judicial custody as the police continue their investigation into the case.
