Following the reopening of schools, students from classes 2 to 10 in state board schools will now be met with exams owing to the new bridge course program, which is slated to commence from Friday, June 17, reports stated.

It is a largely held belief that because of the closure of schools during the COVID-19 pandemic, students faced significant academic loss. To address this, a bridge course program has been initiated which will be done before the new curriculum is commenced, narratives mentioned.

According to accounts, during the first two days, tests will be on different subjects to ascertain where students are on their learning outcomes in regards to the earlier academic year. After this, students will receive a 30-day module of remedial teaching. The last section of the course will be tests on July 25 and 26. Through this, teachers will be able to understand if remedial learning is needed before the new curriculum is started. This students can only begin the new curriculum after completing the exams.

These tests will cover subject areas of Marathi, English, general sciences, mathematics, and social sciences, in English, Marathi and Urdu-medium schools.

On the other hand, since schools in Vidarbha begin later, their first tests will be conducted between July 1 and 2. After which a 30-day module of remedial teaching will be done and the second tests will be conducted between August 8-10, narratives highlighted.

The guidelines have reportedly been issued by the State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) as part of its "Setu Abhyaskram". This body has curated the bridge course program, entailing the remedial teaching module. The SCERT has uploaded the modules on its websites for teachers which comprises subject-wise worksheets for various classes.
