Owing to technical issues, the gateway for the Common Entrance Test (CET) was closed down. Days after this, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, (MSBSHSE) is set to open the portal from 3 pm onwards on Monday.

The said notification, according to reports was sent out late Sunday night. The notification elaborated on how the website will be available from July 26 to August 2.

Whilst the SSC results were declared last week, ICSE results were declared on Saturday. Considering that Class 10 board examinations across all boards were curtailed, results are being declared based on internals. Therefore, the state education department decided to bring in the optional CET, to ensure consistency in the admission process. Although it is optional, students who give the optional CET will be given preference. People are thus, of the opinion that they will grab top college admissions.

A two-hour examination, the CET will be conducted physically. A 100 marks, multiple-choice paper, it will be conducted from 11 am to 1 pm on August 21.

The website was set to be launched, from July 20-26, but technical issues caused it to shut within a day. Before this occurred, over one lakh students were able to register.

MSBSHSE’s notification also states that students will have the freedom to select their preferred language. Additionally, those who had already registered, can check their forms with their application number.

However, the conduction of these exams has received immense criticism from students of other boards, who have voiced their concerns at the Bombay High Court as well.
