The decision to reopen colleges in Maharashtra might be taken post-October 2, said the Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar, on Thursday, September 23. The decision will be taken based on the COVID-19 situation in Maharashtra.
On Thursday, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar stated that the decision to reopen schools in Mumbai would be taken after Diwali.
As per media reports, Pawar had said that the final decision would be based on the COVID-19 situation in the state and the suggestions that the task force would make.
Till October 2, the state will be reviewing the situation and then decide on the reopening of colleges. They will be especially considering the courses where students are aged above 18 and are fully vaccinated.

The decision to open schools will be taken with extra caution since there are no vaccines available for the children.
Addressing the situation, he said that the students above 18 years of age would be vaccinated by October 2. They have already started the vaccination for the teaching and non-teaching staff in a big way. He further added that they would review the situation till October 2. If the condition turns out to be favourable, the decision to reopen colleges in a phase-wise manner can be taken.
According to the reports, on Wednesday, September 22, a pediatric force had given the nod to reopen schools in a phase-wise manner in the state.
