Along with India vs Australia World Cup match, Mumbaikars had something else in store on a lazy Sunday evening. Amidst the scorching heat since the last one week, Mumbai experienced light showers in some parts of the city. On Sunday, June 9, areas like CSMT, Parel, Dadar, Wadala, Govandi, Chembur, Kurla, Sion, Andheri and Navi Mumbai experienced some rainfall.

There have been heavy monsoon showers in Kerala, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Raigad and the onset of monsoon in Mumbai is expected to start from next week. 

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) of Colaba and Santacruz observatory recorded rain of 1 mm and 3.2mm respectively. On Sunday, the temperature in Colaba and Santacruz was recorded at 28.8 and 29-degree Celsius respectively. In June, the average temperature was 32.4-degree Celsius. SkyMet had predicted rain deficiency in entire Maharashtra in June and July but there's hope to have ample of rainfall in August and September.
