Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray believes that is raining beyond the excess rainfall, and thus, definitions of some words need to be changed. Owing to torrential rains, the situation in Kolhapur, Raigad and Konkan has become dire.

According to reports, he is said to have visited the Mantralaya to take stock of the situation, post which he interacted with the media.

He mentioned how he has been reviewing the situation in Maharashtra for the last four to five days. He added that rescue and relief operations are underway in the affected areas. However, he believes that the definitions of some words have to be changed, because it's raining beyond what is considered excess. This is an unexpected crisis with landslides occurring and water levels rising. We are all facing these crises which are expected to continue for the next two to three days, he said.

Whilst many have been rescued, some have unfortunately lost their lives, he mentioned. He spoke about how Nagpur and Mahabaleshwar are witnessing intense downpours. To prevent any further loss of life, efforts are being made. Army, Air Force, Navy and the NDRF have been providing all possible assistance, he stated.

Emphasis is being placed on rescuing those trapped in floods and evacuating those from the river banks. However, due to waterlogging, rescue operations are facing difficulties. He thinks that no one can predict a cloudburst or its implications. Precautions can be made through predictions, but some predictions are hard to make, he said.

He believes that those residing on mountain slopes should migrate and has appealed to the public to cooperate with the authorities. With the coronavirus still active, instructions to abide by the safety protocols where evacuation activities are being undertaken have been enforced, he elaborated. He is also said to have drawn attention to post-flood diseases.
