On August 28, the Indian football team will play a friendly match against the Sydney Football Club as a step to prepare for the Australia tour. Sydney FC are the defending champions of the A-League Premier. Besides, the Blue Tigers are scheduled to play APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC and Rydalmere Lions FC on August 25 and 31 respectively.

Sydney FC are the current A-League Premiers Champion and the best-performing club over the last 3 years. It will be a huge test for us and we are ready for that," India head coach Stephen Constantine said.

The Sydney-based outfit, better known as The Sky Blues, finished the A-league campaign with a 14-point lead over the second-positioned Newcastle Jets in the points table during the 2017-18 A-league season. The team against the opponents will consist of players from both, the senior team and the U-20 team.

The young Indian U-20 team earlier this month outclassed the six-time U-20 champions Argentina in the COTIF Cup on August 6 at Spain.

The Blue Tigers have been preparing for the forthcoming SAFF Suzuki Cup and are practising in New Delhi. The Indian team will kick off their SAFF Championship campaign against Sri Lanka in Dhaka on September 5.
