Thane reported 200 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths on Monday, February 8, taking the total number of cases in the district up to 2,55,949. There are 3,138 active cases and 2,46,626 patients have completely recovered so far.

The death toll in Thane has now reached 6,185 in the district with two new deaths reported in the last 24 hours. While the recovery rate stands at 96.36 per cent while the mortality rate is 2.42 per cent.

As many as 45,365 COVID-19 cases and 1,199 deaths were reported in Palghar district.

On Monday, February 8, Maharashtra recorded 2,216 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 20,46,287. Currently, there are 34,720 active cases in the state. With 3,423 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 19,58,971.

More than 15 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 51,325. While 1,67,764 persons are under home quarantine, 1,976 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 95.73 per cent, and 2.51 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 9,110 new cases, 14,016 recoveries and 78 deaths taking the tally up to 1,08,47,304 on Monday, February 8. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,05,48,521 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,55,158 in the country. At present, there are 1,43,625 active cases. According to the ICMR, 20,25,87,752 samples have been tested up to February 8. So far, 62,59,008 healthcare workers have been vaccinated in the country.
