According to the latest reports, the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) on Monday, February 28, approved an outlay of INR 18,404.63 crore in the budget estimates for the financial year 2022-23.

It has been reported that from this, INR 6,250 crore, has been earmarked for Metro projects in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). Presented by the MMRDA Commissioner, S V R Srinivas it was done under the chairmanship of Minister of Urban Development, Eknath Shinde.

Based on accounts, the body has allotted INR 3,270 crore for the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, INR 600 for the Worli Sewri Connector project and INR 380 crore for the concretisation of Eastern and Western Express Highway.

On the other hand, INR 955 crore has been earmarked for the regional water development resources entailing the Surya Water project. It is interesting to note that the budget was presented with a deficit of INR 7,680 crore, cited narratives.

In a major boost to infrastructure development in Mumbai, the budget has provided INR 2,111.30 crore for projects including the construction of a bridge from Nariman Point to Colaba/ Cuffe Parade.

Apart from this, it also includes work on the Metro Line 10,11,12 and extension of Eastern Freeway from Ghatkopar to Thane.
