Maharashtra: Part of vacant 30-year-old building collapses in Thane, no causalities

On Friday morning, June 18, some part of a vacant 30-year-old building in the Wagle Estate area of Maharashtra's Thane city caved. However, nobody was injured in the incident as it had already been sealed by the authorities, said civic officials.

The incident occurred around 5.30 am today, where some portion of the first floor in the ground-plus-four storied Shiv Bhuvan building in D'souza Wadi collapsed. Since it was already tagged as a dangerous structure, it had been sealed and nobody resided in it, said TMC official.

Reportedly, this is the fourth building collapse incident in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) in less than a month.

Meanwhile, the fire brigade and the RDMC personnel are engaged in the task of clearing the debris.

In a similar incident that took place last night, June 17, a 35-year-old man died after the compound wall of a house collapsed and he was trapped underneath. The incident took place around 7.30 pm at Wayde Chawl next to Pandurang school in Kalpadevi Pada on LBS Road.
