The Ganesh Naik family, who had to settle for only one seat in 2019 after joining the BJP from the NCP, have taken an aggressive stance in the face of the upcoming assembly elections. The Naik family has made strong preparations to contest elections from Airoli constituency. The Airoli constituency remains with the Naik family. Since the formation of this constituency in 2008, the then Nationalist Party leader Sanjay Naik managed this constituency till 2019. So, Ganesh Naik who joined BJP in 2019 captured the power of this place.
Belapur Vidhan Sabha Constituency in Thane District was divided into two parts namely Airoli and Belapur. Initially, Ganesh Naik elected his son Sanjay Naik from this seat. As a result NCP had a good hold in this constituency.
However, as Shiv Sena had more corporators, it was a situation where it would be difficult for the NCP. So the Naik family joined the BJP. Airoli Assembly Constituency is mainly dominated by NCP and BJP. But, with Ganesh Naik from NCP joining BJP, there is a possibility of bitter fight between the two parties here. There is a queue of aspirants in every party to contest from Airoli. Ganesh Naik, Manda Mhatre from BJP, Vijay Chaugule from Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) party, MK Madhvi from Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) party, Mangesh Amle from NCP Sharad Pawar group, Aniket Mhatre from Congress are competing.
Shiv Sena is also insisting on the seat of BJP
Even though this is Ganesh Naik's stronghold, Shiv Sena Eknath Shinde party has also started inspection at this place. So they can also claim this place. District President Vijay Chaugule has claimed that Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) has the highest number of corporators in Airoli Legislative Assembly.
A tug-of-war in Mahavikas Aghadi
There is also a tug of war for this place in Maha Vikas Aghadi. A large constituency of Congress is in this constituency. So, Sharad Pawar's NCP is also dominant here. On the other hand, the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) party has also taken an assertive stand in this place. So, we have to see who will fall in this constituency.
