Devendra Fadnavis, the BJP leader, has written to Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, requesting him to permit students to travel on the local trains during the NEET and the JEE examinations.

Currently, the local trains are plying with restricted access for essential workers only. Therefore, with the decision of the Centre to conduct these examinations across the country, it is only convenient for the students to travel in the local trains.

However, in recent developments, the candidates appearing for the JEE and NEET examinations have been permitted to travel in the Mumbai locals, as per railway officials. The admit cards for the examinations would further be considered as documentation to enter the suburban stations on the day of the exam.

On the other hand, the nation has been struggling to protest against the Centre’s decision to conduct the JEE and NEET examinations. Six states, which includes Maharashtra, have now moved to the Supreme Court seeking review of its initial order in favour of conducting the examinations in the month of September.

The review plea has been filed by ministers from Maharashtra (Uday Ravindra Sawant), West Bengal (Moloy Ghatak), Jharkhand (Rameshwar Oraon), Rajasthan (Raghu Sharma), Chhattisgarh (Amarjeet Bhagat), and Punjab (BS Sidhu).

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has further eased restrictions as part of Mission Begin Again. In the fourth phase of the unlock, the state government has permitted the inter-district movement of persons and goods without e-passes, opened hotel and lodges, increased government office strength to 100 per cent, private offices strength to 30 per cent and outdoor physical activities without restrictions.
