Days after targeting Maharashtra Chief Minister Thackeray’s wife for a land transaction with late Anvay Naik’s family, BJP leader Kirit Somaiya on November 20, levelled allegations against state Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray for violating office of profit norms by holding a position in the firm even after swearing-in as the minister.

Even after becoming one, Aaditya Thackeray remained a designated partner in three companies -- Hibiscus Food LLP & Eliora Solar LLP and aThane-based construction firm, stated Somaiya. The BJP leader, in a press conference, has released further documents to the public seeking clarifications from the Maharashtra CM over the alleged irregularities with his family and Naik’s family.

As per the records of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs - obtained by Kirit Somaiya on November 17, 2020 - Aaditya Thackeray became a designated partner in Hibiscus Food LLP in 2015 and resigned from this company on March 31, 2020. Similarly, he became a designated partner in Eliora Solar LLP on April 26, 2016, and he resigned on March 31, 2020.

Sharing more information, he said, "Thackeray family is misusing its post as ministers in Maharashtra while they are also partners in land and construction business companies. Even several months after taking oath as minister, Aaditya Thackeray remained on the board of construction company Hibiscus. On one hand, he is a minister, and on the other, he is working with the company? Uddhav Thackeray should clarify if his son Aaditya Thackeray is a partner with builder Ajay Ashar of Thane in Ashar Projects DM LLP."

Also, taking it to Twitter, Kirit Somaiya went on to post all the documents on the public platform. The BJP leader pointed out that the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) website shows the date of Aaditya Thackeray’s cessation from the post of designated partner as March 31, 2020, while he has been a minister since December 30, 2019.

Countering Kirit Somaiya’s claim, Aaditya Thackeray said that the MCA website is not reflecting the right date of resignation. He also said that he had resigned months before becoming the minister.

The resignation letter, submitted by Aaditya Thackeray to Ashar Projects DM LLP, shows that he had resigned on July 8, 2019, with immediate effect or latest by July 15, 2019. Similarly, he had tendered his resignation from the other two companies around the same time.

Last week, Somaiya had raised questions over the joint land purchase deals by Rashmi Thackeray and Manisha Waikar, wife of Sena legislator Ravindra Waikar. The land parcels were purchased from Anvay Naik and his family in 2014. Waikar had then clarified that the transactions were mentioned in the income-tax returns.

Apart from that, it is pertinent to note that Republic TV Editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami was arrested in the alleged suicide case of Anvay Naik recently. Anvay Naik had mentioned Arnab Goswami’s name in his suicide note two years ago, and Goswami was arrested after the Maharashtra government had reopened the case which was earlier closed by police.
