BJP MP Narayan Rane tests positive for coronavirus

Rane took to Twitter to inform that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and advised those who came in contact with him to take care.

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Narayan Rane has been tested positive for the coronavirus. Rane took to Twitter to inform that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and advised those who came in contact with him to take care. 

“My covid test is positive. I am in very good health and according to the doctor's advice I will stay isolated for a few days. Citizens who have come in contact with me in the last few days should take care of their own health. Soon, I will be back in the public service,” Rane tweeted in Marathi. 

Earlier, Rane’s elder son Nilesh Rane was also tested positive for the coronavirus but has now recovered after getting treatment. The number of coronavirus cases in Maharashtra has been increasing on a daily basis. 

Till now, 15 cabinet ministers in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government have tested positive for the coronavirus and ten have recovered from it. On Tuesday, Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant took to Twitter to inform that he has been tested COVID-19 positive and is under home-quarantine. 

Recently, Maharashtra Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde, Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad, Minister of State (MoS) for Water Resources and Education, Bacchu Kadu were tested positive for the coronavirus. However, Gaikwad has defeated coronavirus and made a full recovery. On Monday, she tested negative for COVID-19 and was discharged from the hospital.

Earlier, Jitendra Awhad, Ashok Chavan, Dhananjay Munde, Aslam Shaikh, Balasaheb Patil, Sanjay Bansode, Sunil Kedar, Abdul Sattar and Vishwajit Kadam, Nitin Raut and Hasan Mushrif from the Uddhav Thackeray government tested positive for the coronavirus.
