Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Narayan Rane has claimed that the threat call made to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray from Dubai was to divert attention from the ongoing issues including the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.

Earlier, an unidentified caller claiming to be Dawood Ibrahim’s aide called up the landline number at Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s residence Matoshree. As the result, the security outside Matoshree in Bandra was beefed up.

However, Rane claims that he doesn’t believe that Dawood would have given a threat to Thackeray. He demanded that the Mumbai Police should find out and reveal the identity of the person who called up the Chief Minister’s residence.

“If Dawood is in Pakistan, who called up from Dubai? Mumbai Police has a state-of-the-art system and they can very easily track the person who made the threat call. Police should use this system to investigate and reveal the identity,” he asserted.

Rane further criticised the Chief Minister’s concluding address in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly during the two-day monsoon session. He said that many bills were passed without discussion and accused the government of failing to handle the COVID-19 outbreak.

“During the assembly session, LoP Devendra Fadnavis exposed the government but the Chief Minister didn’t respond to any points. The sarpanch of any village in Maharashtra can speak better than Thackeray,” he said.

Rane further taunted CM Thackeray for not stepping out of his residence saying that the next session should be held for two hours on Matoshree’s terrace. He also criticised the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) for attacking Kangana.

“If Kangana has said anything wrong, take legal action against her. Why are you only sitting in Matoshree’s cage?” the BJP leader said.

Reacting to the Supreme Court’s decision to stay implementation on Maratha reservation, Rane said that the matter would have been in the government’s favour if they had presented their side properly.
