The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) recently protested against the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) and Shiv Sena over the bad condition of roads in Diva area. Thane BJP chief Niranjan Davkhare along with several party workers registered their protest against Shiv Sean which is in power in TMC.
Davkhare had earlier resigned from his post as the member of the legislative council and left the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) to join BJP.
The protest was held at different places in Diva and the protestors gathered to shout slogans against the TMC over poor condition of roads in the city. According to a report published in Hindustan Times, a BJP member said that there are multiple issues faced by people in Diva.
He said that Diva has a water problem and lack of basic road facilities. “Shiv Sena gave assurances but no development has happened. Diva has always been treated like a step-child,” Hindustan Times quoted Rohidas Munde.
Earlier, the municipal corporation of Thane had sanctioned funds for road repair works. However, nothing has happened as of now. Meanwhile, TMC Commissioner Sandip Malvi has informed that they were busy tackling the coronavirus pandemic and will look into the road issue highlighted by the BJP workers.
