A drama seems to be unfolding ahead of the proposed Nanar Refinery project, showcasing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena’s tug-of-war. Both the parties are not leaving a chance to demean each other.

A few days back, in a press conference chaired by SS president Uddhav Thackeray, industries minister and Sena leader Subhash Desai announced that the notification of land acquisition had been cancelled.

This brought a relief to the villagers but Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis dismissed Desai's statement adding that Desai cannot take the decision. He further added that they will speak to Konkan residents and accordingly will come to a conclusion.

It is believed that this made Desai go on the backfoot who then wrote to the CM asking him to cancel the notification. However, firm on his stand, the CM told Desai that the decision of the same rests with the high-power committee which comes under the state's chief secretary.
