“What is the status of the government on Maratha Reservation issues?” asked Bombay High Court on Wednesday telling the Maharashtra government to clarify its status on the matter. The High Court also questioned the status of the committee set up regarding this issue.
While filing the petition demanding reservation for Maratha community, it was requested that the HC shall declare its decision before the Academic session starts or else Maratha students won’t get its benefit while taking admissions. The decision on Maratha Reservation issue is pending since two and half years now. State government and Backward Classes Commission shall take a quick decision on the same, the High Court said.

The petition was filed by advocate Vijay Killededar who is a lawyer representing, R.R. Patil Foundation President Vinod Patil. The petition was heard by Justice Ranjeet More along with Justice Anujya Prabhu-Desai.
To solve this matter, the state government had set up a commission headed by retired judge SB Mhase and the commission is supposed to study the socio-economic status of Marathas regarding reservation. However, the commission has not submitted its report yet.
