After all the speculations and drama in Karnataka, BS Yeddyurappa took a step down from the Chief Minister’s position and left the assembly after his speech. To this, the opposition leader and Congress leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil said that it is a big victory for democracy.

He said that the anti-democratic face of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has come out and with this rage, the political environment of the country will change. Commenting on the political development in Karnataka, Vikhe Patil said that despite Congress and Janata Dal (Secular)’s majority of 116 MLAs the governor allowed the BJP to form the government.

This decision was to promote horse-trading of the MLAs but that couldn’t happen and Yeddyurappa had to resign from the post of the CM even before the floor testing could begin. Opposition leaders demanded that the governor doesn’t have the right to stay in the office now.

With the audio released few days back in connection with horse trading, BJP’s mask of democracy has fallen, Vikhe Patil said. The centre tried to pressure the Congress MLAs, the country will watch the entire scenario in the coming times.
