Amidst the ongoing uproar in Karnataka, after BS Yeddyurappa swore as the Chief Minister, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress have been fighting each other and the opposition is still trying to sustain in this tussle.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra’s one of the biggest regional party, Shiv Sena had to face major defeat in the Karnataka elections. Not even one of the candidates from Maharashtra’s regional party won the seat. In fact, they lost their deposits too.

Ahead of Karnataka elections, Shiv Sena decided to spread its wings outside Maharashtra but failed miserably. Shiv Sena fielded 37 candidates for elections in Karnataka, as the regional party is known for its aggressive stand favouring the Marathi speaking people, expecting to get a good response from voters in North Karnataka.

However, not only Shiv Sena but Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Janata Dal (United) – JD(U) – also faced a huge defeat in the recently held state elections. Election Commission (EC) has seized the deposits from the candidates of these three parties. AAP’s 29 candidates, JD(U)’s 28 and 1114 Independent candidates have lost their deposits, including 37 candidates are from Shiv Sena.

As per the results, there were only three major players in the Karnataka elections. BJP, the largest party, won 104 seats followed by Congress with 78 seats and Janata Dal (Secular) with 37 seats.
