Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Mumbai soon for the unveiling of INS Khanderi at Mazgaon Dockyard. The Indian Navy has started preparations for Singh’s visit to the city. Meanwhile, the Defence Minister reviewed coastal security on Tuesday.

The ‘INS Khanderi’ of the Scorpion class will be the second submarine to be inaugurated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Earlier, the submarine’s launch was put to halt due to some technical flaws. INS Khanderi is being built in Mazgaon. 

The Navy has set up an Information Management and Analysis Centre in Gurgaon in order to monitor beaches across the country. Mainly, the satellite keeps a ‘real-time’ watch on important parts of the Indian ocean including Mumbai.

The Navy’s western command headquarter is situated in Mumbai and most of the merchant ships in Indian ocean use the Arabian sea waters under western command. That’s why Rajnath Singh reviewed the coastal safety in detail.
