Ahead of the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister stated that he will jointly tour some parts of the state with Eknath Shinde.
Sharing further about conducting a state-wide tour with the Chief Minister, the BJP leader told PTI: “We will tour the state jointly in some areas and separately at other places.”
Responding to a query on commissioning of the BMC and other municipal polls, Fadnavis exclaimed that a case related to it is underway in court. Once the court gives its verdict, the State Election Commission can come up with a schedule for the elections.
Deputy CM made these comments while speaking to reporters in Nagpur ahead of the elections for 27 municipal corporations, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), and 25 zilla parishads, which are due in the next few months.
Moreover, this development came after the Shinde-BJP coalition came to power in Maharashtra on June 30 this year after a rebellion led by Shinde led to the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government headed by Uddhav Thackeray.
For those unversed, the civic body polls were likely to be held in October as their terms get over. However, the poll schedule is not yet announced.
