The feud between Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar and BJP MLA Ashish Shelar is now simmering after the latter was allegedly booked on Wednesday, December 8, for making an objectionable remark.

Mayor Kishori Pednekar had registered a case against Shelar at the Marine Drive Police Station in Mumbai.

Ashish Shelar had criticised Kishori Pednekar for her alleged delayed response in reaching out to the victims of the cylinder blast in Worli.

The case has been registered under sections 354 (indecency) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code.

On the other hand, Ashish Shelar has written a letter to Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagarale to investigate the complaint lodged by Pednekar.

Shelar took to Twitter and shared: "I wrote to Mumbai Police CP Shri Hemant Nagrale ji to protest manipulation of facts and against pressure by ruling party elements to foist false case against me!”

Shelar’s outrage came after the death of an infant and parents in the gas cylinder blast incident at BDD Chawl.

After such major accidents, patients go to the municipal hospital for treatment, but there is no safety. Patients are not being treated on time. The mayor of Mumbai goes there 72 hours after the incident. “Were you asleep for 72 hours?” he asked.

Him mentioning the word “sleeping” had invited sharp rebuke from ruling parties.
