Amid huge chaos in Maharashtra, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday said his party along with Congress and Shiv Sena don’t support the newly formed government.

While addressing a press conference at YB Chavan centre in Mumbai, Sharad Pawar stated that the decision to join hands with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was solely Ajit Pawar’s and it goes against the party.

Pawar further stated that he was surprised by what had happened and didn’t expect Ajit Pawar would do such a thing.

There could be a disciplinary action against Ajit Pawar which will be decided in the NCP meeting at 4:00 PM today. Ajit Pawar’s decision is against the party,” Pawar asserted.

The NCP supremo stated that public opinion is against this government. Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena will decide what to do next over this situation, Pawar added.

Congress, Shiv Sena and NCP leaders came together to form the government. We had the numbers and our official numbers - 44, 56 and 56 MLAs – had supported the government. Several Independent MLAs were also with us which took our tally to 170,” said Sharad Pawar.

The NCP chief also informed that Ajit Pawar had the support of 10 to 11 MLAs who were kept in dark are in contact with him.

Sharad Pawar also clarified that NCP MP Supriya Sule’s name was not up for the Chief Minister post. “Supriya Sule is an MP and her name was not up for the CM post,” said Pawar when asked the reasons that may have upset Ajit Pawar.

Pawar also stated that they can’t rule out the possibility of “cheating by the governor” while adding that Ajit Pawar may have submitted “ready-made list of NCP MLAs”.

The MLAs who will go against the party and support Sharad Pawar will face anti-defection law, warned Sharad Pawar.
