The Maharashtra government has launched a slew of projects, including a new user-friendly website and MoUs with Make My Trip and Goibibo to promote MTDC properties and make them more accessible.

This development is made by the state government to encourage Maharashtra as a leading tourist destination and to also help the tourism sector that has been battered by the coronavirus-induced lockdown.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on August 17 launched these projects: 

  • A new user-friendly website that will allow for faster and efficient bookings.
  • Ganpatipule Boat Club and Nashik Boat Club. 
  • Enhanced facilities at MTDC Sinhagad Resort, giving the visitors a chance to explore the glory of Sinhagad Fort in all its regalia. Special provisions were made for the trekkers who frequent the fort.
  • MoU for collaboration with SkyHigh India for a thrilling skydiving experience, furthering our steps to promote adventure tourism in the state.
  • MoUs with the MSIHMCT, Pune, has been inked, to groom and impart skill development training to MTDC employees.

Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray took to Twitter and mentioned that these initiatives are aimed to promote its unique cultural identity to the world. “Tourists worldwide are in for a pleasant surprise as we continue to enhance MTDC’s user experience. I thank Minister Uday Samant, Minister Anil Parab, MP Vinayak Raut, MoS Aditi Tatkare, Principal Secretary Valsa Nair, MTDC MD Ashutosh Salil, DoT Director Dhananjay Sawalkar, and everyone at the department who made this possible,” he added.

Moreover, on Tuesday, August 17, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that the government had signed MoUs worth INR 2,905 crores with the hospitality sector in the state on the occasion of Tourism Day, adding that it would boost tourism in the state.
