On Friday, July 15, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray at the latter's residence, "Shivtirtha".

According to reports, the meeting is being conducted at Thackeray's residence located in central Mumbai's Dadar. The meeting between the two is significant in light of the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections and the pending expansion of the state cabinet headed by Eknath Shinde.

Last month, Thackeray underwent hip replacement surgery at Lilavati Hospital. Following the surgery, this is Fadnavis's first visit to the MNS Chief.

Earlier in July, Thackeray had written an open letter to Fadnavis wherein he praised him for setting an example of party loyalty as well as commitment, by becoming the deputy chief minister even though he was anticipated to become the chief minister.

Based on accounts, the MNS which has one MLA had backed BJP in last month's Legislative Council seats and Rajya Sabha elections. BJP's victory in both the polls was crucial because its candidates got more votes than it did before the rebellion in the Shiv Sena that led to the collapse of the Uddhav Thackeray-led government

Following the falling of the MVA government, Eknath Shinde was sworn in as the CM, while Fadnavis became his deputy.
