Former Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis urged the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government to promptly step in and solve the current strike initiated by employees of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) across the state, stated reports.

Since October 25, employees of the MSRTC have been on a strike asking for the merger of the corporation with the Maharashtra government enabling them to be treated as government employees. This will allow them to attain remuneration and advantages accessible to government employees. From the 250 bus depots in the state, nearly 247 aren’t operating.

A report by the Indian Express quoted Fadnavis highlighting that the government is being insensitive and has turned a blind eye towards issues of the employees. Adding that many have succumbed to suicide since they attain their salaries timely. He believes this doesn’t speak well for the state whilst mentioning that if the government had addressed the problem, such agitation wouldn’t have transpired.

Fadnavis is of the opinion that no one has gone to the employees’ organization to talk about their issues, he recommended to the state chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray that the employees not be treated as rivals and an end to the issue be brought.

Similarly, the Bombay High Court has also sought a response from the staff on strike amid reports of the suspension of 918 employees.
