In a bid to increase vaccination coverage across the state, the Maharashtra government might restrict access to various services, which are provided by the government agencies, for unvaccinated individuals.

The Uddhav Thackeray-led government on Wednesday’s cabinet meeting discussed to replicate the “Aurangabad pattern” of vaccination across the state.

This development came as the vaccination pace had dropped during the Diwali festival. On Monday, November 8, vaccination picked up with nearly 5 lakh doses administered across Maharashtra, including one lakh in Mumbai.

The Aurangabad pattern involves restricting services such ration shops and gas pumps asked not to supply groceries and fuels. Moreover, there are restrictions to entry into offices for the people who have not taken a single dose of vaccine.

According to reports, CM Thackeray has given a go-ahead for implementation of such a move across Maharashtra to ensure that vaccination coverage increases.

This came after Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar demanded replication of Aurangabad pattern across Maharashtra.

Moreover, the district collectors have been asked to complete the first dose of all people by November end.

For those unversed, Maharashtra on Tuesday, November 9, crossed the milestone of 10 crore vaccination doses, which includes 6.8 crore people taking the first dose and 3.2 crore taking both doses.
