A delegation of coaching classes teachers and owners along with representatives from parents’ association med Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Monday to express their concern over the delay in admissions for the junior college or 11th standard. 

The delegation consisting of teachers and owners have also demanded the reopening of coaching classes in Maharashtra under the ‘Mission Begin Again’ initiate of the state government. The meeting was held at Thackeray’s residence Krishnakunj in Shivaji Park. 

The coaching centres and schools have been closed since March this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The coaching classes have not been allowed to restart amid the coronavirus outbreak. 

However, the owners-teachers of coaching classes have become aggressive in their demands as the state government has initiated unlocking business activities. Meanwhile, during their meeting with the MNS chief, the parents expressed their concern over the delay in the opening of junior colleges. 

After the meeting, Thackeray called up Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad directly to press the demands made by the parents, teachers and owners of the coaching centres. The delegation also alleged that schools were building pressure to pay fees amid the coronavirus outbreak. 

It is learnt that Gaikwad informed Thackeray that the issue of pending Class 11 admissions will be resolved by tomorrow. Gaikwad will be holding a meeting in the evening with the officials of the education department to resolve the stalled issue.
