MNS' Sandeep Deshpande asks govt. to allow fully vaccinated citizens to travel by Mumbai Local

Responding to this, Minister of State for Relief and Rehabilitation, Vijay Vadettiwar, while addressing the media has said that the Mumbai Local Train services will not resume for another two weeks keeping the congestion in mind.

Strict restrictions and lockdown imposed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has affected the daily lives of the people. The decision was taken by the government over the last few weeks, and the current lockdown in Maharashtra is expected to end on June 1, 2021. However, no official announcement has been made yet.

Meanwhile, travelling is restricted for citizens in Mumbai, and only working for the essential services have been permitted to use public transport including the Mumbai local trains. Observing this distress among Mumbaikars,  MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), took to Twitter to share advice with the government asking the officials to permit fully vaccinated citizens to travel by the local trains.

However, responding to this, the Minister of State for Relief and Rehabilitation, Vijay Vadettiwar, while addressing the media, said that the Mumbai local train services will not resume for another two weeks keeping the congestion in mind. 

Reports have stated that many businessmen and traders have also demanded the local train services to resume for the public and requests have been made with the Chief Minister too. But, the government is currently planning to lift the lockdown and it is said that the process may be completed by June 30, 2021. However, more information will be shared officially which will offer further clarity about the movement.

Meanwhile, measures are being taken keeping the third COVID-19 wave in mind. Experts have warned that the predicted wave would affect the children till the age of 18 and this has raised concerns among the public. Considering this, some reports have mentioned that the restrictions may not be eased completely, but some relaxation may be granted to benefit the public.
