Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Friday attacked Actress Kangana Ranaut who recently compared Mumbai to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK). Deshmukh said that those who think Maharashtra or Mumbai is not safe for them, have no right to live here.

Earlier, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ram Kadam demanded Mumbai Police provide security to Ranaut as she was ready to expose the drug mafia in Bollywood. However, the actress said that she was more afraid of Mumbai Police than ‘movie mafia’ goons.

While comparing Mumbai to POK, Ranaut accused Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut of giving her an open threat after the latter said that she shouldn’t come to Mumbai if she feels unsafe. In ‘Saamana’, Raut said that Kangana’s remarks insulted the Mumbai Police and were shameful.

Reacting to this, Deshmukh said that the Mumbai Police will investigate her statement and take a decision. “Our police officers will look into her remarks and decided what to do,” he added.

“Be it Mumbai or Maharashtra, it is safe in the hands of the police. The statement made by the actor is ridiculous. Our police are capable of ensuring law and order in the state,” Deshmukh asserted.

Kangana’s remarks comparing Mumbai to POK have sparked major controversy in Maharashtra inviting criticism from the leaders in ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. Even the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state has distanced itself from her statement.

The women workers of Shiv Sena protested against Kangana over her remarks and agitated protestors were seen beating up her poster with chappals. Responding to the protests, she said that Mumbai has been covered in blood.
