Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar gave his first reaction to the Sushant Singh Rajput death case which has become a huge national and political issue. Pawar expressed shock over the handling of SSR death case in the media.

He said that the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput was unfortunate and the way media is covering the case was astonishing. The NCP patriarch pointed out that 20 farmers in his district of Baramati have committed suicide in the past few months but the media has failed to take note of it.

On August 12, a brief meeting between Pawar and Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut was held at Yashwanrao Chavan Centre in south Mumbai. While talking to reporters after the meeting, Pawar said that he doesn’t intend to comment on the accusations being made in the SSR death case.

“It is unfortunate for an actor to commit suicide. However, I am surprised to see the manner in which the issue is being discussed in the media. I don’t want to go in the depths of the accusations made in the case. In my district, 20 farmers have committed suicide and the media has failed to take note of it,” Pawar said.

The NCP chief expressed confidence in the investigation being carried out by Mumbai Police. However, Pawar said that he won’t oppose anyone demanding the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe the case.

“Mumbai police are eligible to investigate the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case. I have 100 per cent faith in them. However, if anyone wants the case to be investigated by the CBI or any other agency, I will not oppose it,” Pawar said while responding to a query.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nilesh Rane has demanded the resignation of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and state Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray accusing them of abusing their position in the SSR death case.
