Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) chief Prakash Ambedkar believes that the deaths being in the state is not due to the coronavirus pandemic but are in line with nature. All these deaths are according to the laws of nature, Ambedkar said while accusing the government of cheating people.

“Gautam Buddha has said that a person who is born will die someday. What is new in 200-250 people dying? The population of Maharashtra is around 10 crores. These deaths are according to laws of nature and not due to the coronavirus,” he claimed.

Ambedkar further asked whether any hospital has issued a death certificate for coronavirus saying that the patient has died due to the same. More people would die if there was an epidemic, he added.

“I don’t believe in coronavirus. I am saying what I can see. No hospital has documented any death due to the coronavirus till date. Give me an example that no one has died in the last 10 years. The death toll for March, April and May are lower than last year. Compare the deaths happened earlier and now. The death rate has come down,” Ambedkar said.

Ambedkar has been campaigning against the Uddhav Thackeray government to lift the lockdown completely. He asserted that the government can’t restrict people’s movements.

“We object to the lockdown imposed by the Maharashtra government. We have elected the government for five years and it has no right to keep people in the house. The government can’t restrict my movements. It can’t cheat us in the name of coronavirus,” he said.

Meanwhile, the VBA chief on Monday participated in the agitation at Pandharpur and demanded the reopening of all places of worship. Ambedkar was later allowed by the Solapur administration to visit the Vitthal temple with 15 others.

The local administration had barricaded the roads leading to the temple in Pandharpur ahead of the protest by VBA to demand reopening of temples in Maharashtra. Ambedkar’s agitation was supported by Warkaris and their organisations.
