After senior Congress leaders, and loyalists of late leaders, Gurudas Kamat and Murli Deora, met All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Mallikarjun Kharge demanding to replace Sanjay Nirupam with Milind Murli Deora for Mumbai Congress President post, the internal conflict in Mumbai Congress seems to be intensifying.

In the political circle, there have been many speculations regarding the stability of Nirupam as Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC) President. The answer to this question is with Congress President Rahul Gandhi.

According to sources, Kharge will soon submit his report to Rahul Gandhi in this matter and the final decision will be taken by the Congress president. 

Kamat’s loyalists have accused Sanjay Nirupam of dominating decision-making process, party affairs, and sidelining the senior leader. Two factions – Kamat’s and Murli Deora lobby – are united and adamant to remove Nirupam from the post.

As this happened, Nirupam met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday as a part of pressure tactics in order to prevent his position and to mark his presence, in the party.
