Former Bombay High Court Judge, Abhay Thipsay, on Tuesday joined Congress in the presence of party president Rahul Gandhi. Former CM Ashok Chavan and MP Kumar Ketkar were also present during this occasion.

Rahul Gandhi was in Mumbai to address the booth-level workers and to be present before Bhiwandi court in connection with the defamation case registered against him. However, he has been pleaded not guilty in the same.

Thipsay joined Congress after Rahul Gandhi addressed the gathering of the party workers at Goregaon. On this occasion, the former HC judge said that Congress is a secular party and circumstances of the country can be changed with it.

Commenting on the Sohrabuddin case, where Amit Shah was one of the accused, Thipsay commented that major accused in the Sohrabuddin case were acquitted and it is a matter of concern. He said that this case shall be investigated again.

Thipsay has heard many major cases including Hit and Run, BEST bakery blast, and the Sadhvi Pragya Singh Case – Malegaon Blast. However, the Congress has not officially announced the admission of the former HC judge in the party.
