Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Nana Patole said that the government should take immediate steps to ensure that the persons belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) category get a promotion at all levels.
The government should ensure that promotions at all levels are provided to candidates from the SC category as per the provisions of the reservation act and affidavit submitted to the Supreme Court of India regarding reservations in promotions to the backward classes, Patole asserted.
A meeting chaired by Nana Patole was held in Vidhan Bhavan on the issue of stagnancy in the promotion to backward classes in the government. In the meeting, Patole said that that the order passed by the previous government on December 29, 2017, denying reservation in promotion to employees belonging to backward classes was “unjust” and should be struck down.
While discussing the injustice in promotions of the government employees, Patole said that there was a need to make appropriate corrections in the process of issuing income certificates to people belonging to non-creamy layers. It would be wrong to deny the right of any section of the society, he added.
Immediate action should be taken to check and certify the list of promotions, the assembly speaker asserted. Patole also instructed the concerned officials to ensure that the promotion to persons from backward classes is provided as per the legal provisions and their seniority.
