Shiv Sena MLA Ravindra Waikar was appointed as the chief coordinator in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Tuesday. The designation to Waikar was given by Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

As per sources, Ravindra Waikar was unhappy after he was not inducted in the Uddhav Thackeray-led cabinet in Maharashtra. However, with this new appointment, the Shiv Sena leader will have a cabinet minister rank.

This is the first time that the post of chief coordinator has been created in Maharashtra CMO. Waikar, as the chief coordinator in the CMO, will manage public grievances.

Ravindra Waikar’s appointment comes with a purpose to help the newly elected Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray as the latter does not have any administrative experience.

Several people come to Mantralaya every day in Mumbai to discuss their problems with the Chief Minister. Waikar’s appointment as chief coordinator in the CMO has been made to receive and take appropriate action on the grievances expressed by the people.

Three-time Shiv Sena MLA from Jogeshwari (East), Waikar has served as a Minister of State (MoS) in the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government. As the MoS, Wairkar was responsible for handling portfolios including Housing, Higher and Technical Education.

During the Maharashtra assembly winter session, CM Thackeray had informed that the CMOs will be set up at six divisional offices and district level to make sure that people from rural parts don’t have to visit Mantralaya to discuss their problems. This is already under implementation.

On November 28, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray took oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra of the three-party Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.
