After resigning from the post of NCP President, Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule is being seen as the next President of NCP. Supriya Sule is currently the Lok Sabha MP from Baramati in Maharashtra. Baramati is considered the stronghold of Sharad Pawar. Supriya Sule is a three-time Member of Parliament from Baramati.
On Tuesday, after releasing a book based on his political biography ‘Lok Majhe Sangati’, Sharad Pawar decided to resign from the post of party president in the auditorium itself. After this decision of Sharad Pawar, NCP workers made a lot of requests to Sharad Pawar to withdraw his decision. Top party officials also asked Sharad Pawar to consider his decision.
Sharad Pawar had indicated in a recent interview that his daughter would play a bigger role in the party in the near future. She is more interested in national politics and working in the Parliament. He also won the Best Parliamentarian Award. Pawar had said that everyone has their own area of interest. As of now it is not clear who will be the chief of the NCP. While Sharad Pawar has said that a committee will decide who will be the next chief. Ajit Pawar has said that Sharad Pawar may reconsider his decision in a day or two.
There are many leaders whom Pawar has groomed to handle the NCP. He is accompanied by his own daughter Supriya Sule, his nephew Ajit Pawar and NCP chief Jayant Patil. All of them are now frontline leaders of NCP.
