The ‘Manohar’ stories of BJP politics!
SHARES

Mumbai – These seem to be the days of rumours and speculations in the political field which is abuzz with activities after the election results of five states. The ruling BJP is changing portfolios of many of its high-profile leaders and one among them is Manohar Parrikar who became the chief minister of Goa after resigning from the post of Defence Minister. This sudden shift in political responsibility has given a way for all kinds of speculations, rumours and so called predictions. In one such probability, it is being said that Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis is likely to be shifted to Delhi at the place vacated by Parrikar.

According to the grapevine, BJP state president Raosaheb Danve, Vinod Tawde, Sambhaji Patil Nilangekar or Chandrakant Patil are the front runner for CM’s post if Fadnavis is summoned to Delhi to carry out the new responsibility. Many speculators have even allocated portfolios of to Arun Jaitley (Home Ministry), Devendra Fadnavis (Defence Ministry plus an additional charge of coal and mining ministry), and Piyush Goyal (Finance Minister). They have based their predictions on the basis of meeting between BJP president Amit Shah and prime minister Narendra Modi. The said meeting reportedly took place between these leaders when Shah was actually participating in the swearing in ceremony of Parrikar in Goa.

On the other hand, a senior central BJP leader claimed that Fadnavis will not be changed for next 13 years as the chief minister of Maharashtra. The real intention behind this claim needs to be understood as Fadnavis has been successfully administering the state besides leading the party to win crucial elections for the BMC and local governing bodies. And hence, Modi and Shah are not in a mood to change the role of Fadnavis in near future.
Shifting Fadnavis to Delhi has another logic, placing of a Maratha leader in place of Fadnavis in the wake of Maratha agitation for reservation.

Still, the news reports on the possible shifting of state leaders to the centre have not stopped making rounds. As per these reports, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivrajsingh Chauhan is seriously being considered for a position in the Union Cabinet.

All these rumours and speculations are based on prime minister Narendra Modi’s habit of giving shocks as he demonstrated at the time of demonetization. The political leaders who can be affected after Parrikar are named as Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Shivrajsingh Chauhan, Devendra Fadnavis etc are getting ready for the political surgical strike.
