On Wednesday, June 22, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray went live on Facebook and addressed the citizens of the state.
Thackeray made a startling declaration by voicing that if his people do not want him to be the CM of the state they should have come and told him that. Further, he added that if Shiv Sainiks told him he is not capable, he will step down as the president of the party.
Highlighting the allegation made by some, that the party isn't Balasaheb Thackeray’s Shiv Sena, he voiced that if he steps down as the CM and his party members become happy, he is also happy.
The Shiv Sena leader enunciated that the CM's post came to him accidentally and that he is not too keen on it. Thus, if his party workers tell him to quit he will do so.
Speaking on the rebels, Thackeray mentioned that he is ready to quit the post of the CM if they call him. He went on to reiterate that he is ready to quit.
The Maharashtra Chief Minister then voiced his pain on the stand taken by the legislators. In light of this, he said that if they come before him, he will tender his resignation letter. He remarked that as long as the Shiv Sainiks are with him and he is connected to them, he does not care about any challenge.
He emphasized that he does not want to stick to the chair and therefore will not fight for it. He asked that the rebels come before and speak to him.

Recalling the formation of the MVA government, he claimed that NCP Chief Sharad Pawar asked him to become the CM, even when he did not have prior experience. At the same, he uttered that he fulfilled his responsibility with commitment. Adding that while on the one hand he would be pained and surprised if NCP or Congress said they did not want him to be the CM anymore, he will be faithful if Shiv Sainiks do not want him to be CM.
He simply believes that they should have come and told him that they don't want him to be the CM anymore.
Elaborating on the intensely debated topic of Hindutva he mentioned that Shiv Sena cannot be separated from Hindutva and vice versa, by citing the instance of Aaditya Thackeray and Eknath Shinde visiting Ayodhya recently. He said he will continue sticking to Hindutva and be a Hindu. He voiced that the party which got elected 63 legislators in 2014 that was also Balasaheb Thackeray’s ShivSena
Thackeray's live was delayed by nearly 30 mins. The Chief Minister started his live by declaring that he indeed did test positive for COVID-19. He went on to recall the government's role in handling the pandemic by working hard to curb the spread of the virus.
This comes in the midst of the present political upheaval in the state with senior Shiv Sena leader, Eknath Shinde waging a war on the state government.
Following the Maharashtra Legislative Council Elections, where cross-voting was suspected, Shinde along with some MLAs flew to Surat and then Guwahati. Shinde opined that he is a staunch advocate of Balasaheb Thackeray's Hindutva.
