Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has criticised Mumbai Police over its handling of Sushant Singh Rajput death case. The SSR death case has gathered nationwide attention for weeks now and the demand to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified which has put a huge pressure of the Maharashtra government and Mumbai Police.

The SSR death case has taken a political turn with leaders from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and allied parties targeting the Shiv Sena-led MVA government. Efforts have been made to link Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his son, Aaditya Thackeray, to the case. However, they have denied any links to the SSR death case.

Athawale recently said that Mumbai Police is quite active and is capable but it has not been able to deliver in the SSR death case. Although Mumbai Police have taken statements of 56 people, nothing has come out of it.

“Mumbai Police is active and capable. It has solved big cases and murder cases within 24 hours. However, in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, the Mumbai Police has not been able to deliver. Everyone is clueless about what they are doing,” Athawale said.

He further added that Mumbai Police has only recorded statements after 40 days but nothing has come out of it. “I agree with Parth Pawar’s demand to transfer the case to the CBI as they have at least started the investigation by filing an FIR against actress Rhea Chakraborty and her family members,” Athawale added.

Meanwhile, Athawale has predicted that the MVA government might collapse after the Ganpati immersion due to the internal fighting. There might be a tussle brewing in the NCP and Congress as well, he said.

This all started after Sharad Pawar slammed his grand-nephew over his demand to transfer the Sushant Singh Rajput death case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
