Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Supriya Sule on Wednesday demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the ongoing violence in North East Delhi while owing to the moral responsibility for the “huge intelligence failure”.

The violence in parts of North East Delhi has claimed 22 lives so far, as per the media reports. Reacting to this, Sule urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to conduct a “transparent” probe into the same.

“The Centre should be held responsible for what has happened in Delhi. It was a huge intelligence failure. Union Home Minister Amit Shah must resign owing moral responsibility,” Supriya Sule said while talking to the reporters outside Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai.

Sule added that the Home Minister is responsible for such security lapse and should tender his resignation.

“It is a huge security lapse during US President Donald Trump’s visit. The home minister is responsible for it. There should be an impartial probe into it. It is my humble request that the PM carries out a transparent inquiry,” NCP MP Supriya Sule was quoted by PTI.

Since Sunday, nearly 34 people have been killed in parts of North East Delhi. The violence was triggered after pro-CAA mob took over the streets and unleashed terror in Muslim-dominated areas.

Earlier, while talking to the media, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said that the Godhra model has been replicated in Delhi.

In Delhi, the journalists were also attacked while covering the violence. The mob asked reporters covering the riots about their religion. Several accounts of eyewitness in affected areas narrated that the mob charred down vehicles and created mayhem. The Wire also reported that a mosque was also set on fire in Delhi's Ashok Nagar area.
