During a Facebook live session, the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader was shot dead by a local social worker but a notorious criminal Mauris Noronha, also known as Mauris Bhai, on Thursday night, February 8.

The duo had hosted the live session to celebrate the end of the enmity and their coming together for the cause of the development of the area -- the IC colony of Mumbai, in the suburb of Borivali.

However, in a shocking sight, Mauris fired three bullets in abdomen and shoulder at Ghosalkar amid the session filled with laughter and. Later, Noronha also killed himself.

Therefore, now the question arises that what is the relation or link between them?

Who was Mauris Bhai?

Mauris Bhai's Instagram profile portrayed him as a multifaceted individual dedicated to community welfare.

He ran a voluntary organisation in Maharashtra and enjoyed prominence in local political circles. Mauris Bhai described himself as a “philanthropist, award-winning social worker, COVID warrior, and self-proclaimed leader".

It is pertinent to note that Mauris Noronha had planned a trip to infant Jesus shrine in Nashik on February 10 for the people of the locality which the Uddav Sena leader referred to during the Facebook live streaming.

Further investigation by Mumbai Police exposed Mauris Noronha's history, revealing past allegations including cheating, attempted murder, threat, and rape dating back to 2014. However, the complaint against Noronha was lodged in 2022, leading to his arrest.

Interestingly, a photograph surfaced online depicting Mauris receiving an award from Amruta Fadnavis, the wife of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, raising eyebrows and sparking discussions about the connections within the political landscape.

What is the link between Mauris Bhai and Ghosalkar?

Reports suggest that underlying political disputes fueled a longstanding rivalry between Mauris Bhai and Abhishek Ghosalkar, ultimately culminating in the tragic incident. It is said that Mauris was aspiring to be a corporator in the same ward as Ghosalkar for the upcoming BMC elections.

Mauris was apparently trying to enter the Uddhav Thackeray faction of the Shiv Sena. Apparently, both Mauris Noronha and Abhishek Ghosalkar wanted to contest from Ward No 1.

Apart from that, he was also aiming to seek support from BJP, Shinde faction and Ajit Pawar group.

In another revelation by the Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, he alleged in a post on X that Shinde had recently met Noronha at the chief minister's official residence 'Varsha.' Allegedly, during this encounter, Shinde invited Noronha to join the Shiv Sena faction led by Shinde himself.

The firearm used in the incident might be an illegal weapon, adding another layer of concern to the tragic event, reports stated.
