Maharashtra Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray on Monday informed that 175 people have recovered and gone home from G south ward of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The G south ward consists of areas such as Prabhadevi and Worli which were labelled as hotspots and were sealed by the BMC.

Aaditya Thackeray took to Twitter to share that a 90-year-old woman has been successful in fighting the coronavirus or COVID-19 and has been tested negative for the same. Citing the example of the elderly woman, Thackeray, who is a Shiv Sena MLA from Worli constituency, expressed that Worli model is a story of hope.

“So the Worli model is a story of hope! This inspiration is a lady 90 years + and now covid negative! She fought covid and now has returned home! This is what we are. Humanity is about rising by inspiring others (sic),” Aaditya Thackeray tweeted.

Aaditya Thackeray’s remarks come as the official twitter handle of BMC’s GS ward shared a tweet featuring the 90-year-old “Mrs Inspiration” who beat the coronavirus. She was cured and discharged from the hospital on April 26.

In a series of tweets, the official handle of BMC’s GS ward shared images of people who were recovered. “Tough times never last but tough people do. Here are the pictures which prove the saying, as 151 covid positive persons from G south ward jurisdiction got discharged, till date, from various hospitals.”

The BMC further informed that the persons who have been discharged from the G south ward are from 5 years of age to 90-year-old.

Meanwhile, the Mantralaya was sanitised on Monday after three housekeeping staff and a doctor working for the emergency ambulance service tested positive for COVID-19.

Maharashtra has become the worst-hit state in India with over 8,590 COVID-19 cases and 369 deaths till date. Of the 8,590 cases in Maharashtra, the number in Mumbai alone has risen to 5,776.

Earlier, the Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) had applauded the Worli Koliwada model and said that this could become a model for the country to contain the spread of the coronavirus or COVID-19.
