Maharashtra Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant on Monday lashed out at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over his remarks that the states will have to seek permission to hire migrant workers.

Sawant alleged that Yogi Adityanath was indulging in “petty politics” and his government was creating troubles in the lives of the workers and labourers. He also added that nobody needed permission to work anywhere in the country.

“Migrant workers are human first and also citizens of this country. Nobody needs to take permission for working anywhere in this country. Yogi Adityanath has been the most incompetent & heartless CM in the country & is proving to be the enemy of people from his own state (sic),” Sawant said.

Furthermore, the Congress leader attacked Yogi Adityanath saying that he lacked the vision to improve Uttar Pradesh while demanding that migrant workers and labourers who left from Maharashtra for their homes in UP should be taken care of by the state government there.

"He doesn't have the guts or vision to improve UP so much that the people there need not have to migrate for work. He only can indulge in petty politics. Now we demand that all those poor migrants who left Maharashtra be taken care of by UP govt. UP govt is making their life hell," Sawant tweeted.

Earlier on Sunday, during a webinar, Yogi Adityanath said that other states will have to seek permission to hire workers from UP as some states had treated them badly.

The claim made by the UP CM that the migrants were “ill-treated” has not gone well with leaders in Maharashtra. Earlier, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut also hit out at Yogi Adityanath for his remarks and said that he would send him videos of migrant workers hailing Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray while leaving for their homes.

Moreover, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray said that any worker coming here to work will have to take permission from the state government and police as well.
