BEST cancels order for 118 new buses

BEST has cancelled the purchase order for 118 buses out of 303 buses that the undertaking ordered from Tata Motors. The faulty design and the delivery delay are the two prominent factors which caused the cancellation of the order. BEST has already decided to scrap 50 old buses due to the failure of chassis. 

Each bus is worth Rs 55 lakh, 75 buses have already arrived rest will be delivered by May-end. BMC refused to allot funds more than Rs 90 crore this is a key reason why BEST cancelled the order stated Ravi Raja, Congress Leader.

The new buses will have high-tech facilities such as automatic transmission for drivers, in-bus passenger announcement system, central air circulation system, emergency exit door and the proper gap between seats.
