Days after the Maharashtra bandh, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) has reported a loss of nearly ₹1.71 crores.

According to reports, nearly 2.5 million passengers travel by BEST buses every day, however, on Monday only 573,272 passengers travelled by the BEST buses.

On Monday, October 11, BEST services were hit after buses were vandalised a night before the bandh. Later, the BEST administration had sought police protection for the operation of bus services in the city. A total of 11 buses were vandalised, said the transport body.

The BEST on an average daily earns nearly ₹2 crores from passenger earnings.
