According to the latest reports, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has collaborated with the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) in order to provide last-mile connectivity choices to its travellers on the upcoming Metro Line 2A and Metro Line 7.

The two new metro lines are slated to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday, April 2. Moreover, the timetable for the new metro lines has reportedly been finalized. Currently, there is only one metro line in Mumbai that runs between Ghatkopar and Versova.

MMRDA Commissioner, SVR Srinivas remarked that a new plan, as well as design provided to the BEST, has been approved. He was quoted in an account by the Free Press Journal elaborating on how many bus stops have been moved to a requisite distance of nearly 50-75 meters of the metro stations

He believes that the inter-modal integration will be helpful adding that intermediate public transport will act as last-mile connectivity. It has been reported that many discussions about the same have been conducted with the BEST authorities in the last six months.

On the other hand, an official from the BEST was also quoted in the narrative stating that they will need additional buses once the two new metro lines become functional.
