According to the latest reports, the remaining portion of the Mumbai Metro Line 7 and Line 2A could be fully operational by August 15. On Saturday, April, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray flagged off the inaugural run on phase 1 of both Line 2A and 7.

It has been reported that Line 2A’s Andheri (W) station will be interconnected with the present DN Nagar station on Line 1, while the Andheri (E) station on Line 7 will have an interconnection with the Western Express Highway on Line 1.

Based on a narrative by the Times of India, the Mumbai Metro network’s full potential will be attained once the entire corridor opens. SVR Srinivas, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) Metropolitan Commissioner, remarks that they aim to finish works on both lines before August 15.

Apart from this, the MMRDA is anticipating a reduction in road traffic once the complete route is functional. The western suburbs could get a smooth ride till Bhayandar once Line 9 is commissioned. This is expected to be completed by October 2024, cited reports.

Furthermore, the MMRDA is also looking to extend Line 7 to the Mumbai airport's domestic terminal. In accordance with the account, almost 75 per cent of the work on the remainder of both corridors has been finished.

MMRDA reportedly sent show-cause notices to the contractors for the delay in Mumbai Metro station works.

In other developments, on Monday, April 4, morning, services on the new metro line were affected owing to a “technical error”.

The Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) remarked that the metro train was withdrawn from service at the Magathane station because of the snag.
