On February 2, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) budget will be presented. The BMC is the richest municipal body in the country and this is the first time in nearly 38 years that the BMC administrator will be present and approve the budget.

As per the BMC Act, it has to present its budget before February 5. Last year, the BMC presented a budget of INR 45,949.21 crore, which may increase by INR 4500 crore to INR 50,000 crore this year. Adequate provision will be made for infrastructure and health in this year's budget.

Last year, in view of the COVID-19 situation, the BMC launched Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Health Center, it increased its health budget by 15% and made an additional INR1,800 crore for the health sector.
